The Wisdom of a Chicago Soak
Last night, I was at a party for a softball team (that I don't play on) with a lot of people (that I didn't know). I tried converting one democrat named Mike.
Mike admitted that Kerry was the worst possible candidate for the democrats, but he was still going to vote for him anyway - he's an "Anybody But Bush!" Democrat. Mike believed that we were misled into war. Believed that Karl Rove constructed the excuse to take on Iraq. Mike is a very well-educated, smart individual with opinions based on many talking points from the left. But he hinged his whole argument on the lack of an exit strategy out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
I countered with "Kerry wants to cut and run in less than a year. What will happen then?"
But before Mike could answer, my friend Phil (half in the bag) leans over, points a finger at Mike (he's a friend of Mike) and slurs, "Exit strategy?! EXIT STRATEGY?!...Bush has an exit strategy! It's called IRAN!!!"
With troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran might be the best exit strategy, yet.
