Moving Day

Well, it's finally here. The day I leave my urban digs for the suburbs. I know, I know, you never thought it would happen?

Neither did I. Especially didn't think it would happen exactly two weeks after Gracie was born...

The real reason that I'm moving is that, if I'm going to pay taxes for schools, I'm damn well going to use the schools, and, well Chicago Public Schools (for the most part) don't meet the standards for bad schools, let alone good ones. The private schools that we would put our kids in would cost about 12K per kid per year. And we would be paying taxes for schools we wouldn't use. And we wouldn't have a backyard.
So, you see, it's for the children, after all...

Goodbye maintenance-free living condo. Hello yard with too many trees and garden that was too well kept (the standard's been set, dammit).

Goodbye friendly doorman. Hello nosy neighbors.

Goodbye scenic skyscraper views. Hello forest preserve.

Goodbye pubs...*sniff*...I'll miss you. Hello...hello new pubs!!!

Goodbye lakeshore. Hello lawn sprinklers.

Goodbye 3rd Floor Playroom. Hello backyard swingset.

Yep, I'll need some therapy.

Ahhh, I seem to gotten off topic. There'll be light blogging because, as you can imagine, I'm a bit busy today. More tomorrow.

Moving Day
