Happy Gilmore for Senate
Illinois - the state without a Republican challenger to Democrat nominee Barack Obama - is looking outside the state for a Senate candidate. Alan Keyes, from Maryland, is being courted along with one other Illinois Republican.
Earlier, I blogged that the Illinois Republicans needed a big name to have a slim chance of a decent showing in November. Let's face it - barring a scandal (and maybe not even then) Obama is going to win by a unprecedented margin.
This is a bit embarrassing as the Speaker of the House - third in line for the Presidency of the United States - is from Illinios.
What the f@#& is wrong with you people?!
I digress. The Blackfive Solution (trademark pending) for this would be to find somebody who just doesn't give a rat's ass about winning and cares only about telling the truth - Happy Gilmore in a political mold. Wouldn't it be interesting to see some guy walk up to a debate with a taped-up hockey stick? And say something to Obama like, "Yo, Harvard, maybe we can get a beer later?"
That's the only chance Illinois has for a Republican Senator...
