This is a great story:

U.S. Hostage Hamill Escapes in Iraq
By BASSEM MROUE, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - American hostage Thomas Hamill, kidnapped three weeks ago in an insurgent attack on his convoy, was found by U.S. forces Sunday south of Tikrit after he apparently escaped from his captors, the U.S. military said. An official said he was in good health.
<...>
"He said he heard a military convoy come by and pried the door open. He said he ran half a mile down the road and got with the convoy," Kellie Hamill said.

Hamill identified himself to the troops, then led the patrol to the house where he had been held captive. The unit surrounded the house and captured two Iraqis with an automatic weapon, said the military spokesman, Maj. Neal O'Brien...

Hamill has an infected wound in his arm as the result of a gunshot when he was captured. And he still led the patrol to get the SOB's that held him hostage.

While this is great news, let's not forget that there is one more US POW - PFC Keith M. Maupin - still being held by insurgents.
