Saddam Spies in the U.S.

Posted By Blackfive

We knew about payoffs to French government officials. We now have some alleged evidence against Kofi's son so there's U.N. connection.

But now there was a Congressional Staffer that spied for Saddam...oh, a Democratic Congressional Spokesperson....that worked for my former (horrible) Senator, Carol Mosely-Braun.

Smash has the details and links.

Instapundit has a lot of commentary and links on the subject, too. Including why the news services are not giving the party that the spokesperson worked for...because you can bet a paycheck that if she worked for a Republican, the party would have made the headline, not the story.

Update - 6:45PM CST: The Seattle Post-Intelligencer carries this AP article. Notice the headline and the first paragraph before the actual reporting begins.

Accused spy is cousin of Bush staffer
By MATTHEW DALY
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

WASHINGTON -- The woman charged with working for the Iraqi spy agency is a distant cousin of President Bush's chief of staff, Andrew Card, and has held a variety of jobs in journalism and on Capitol Hill.

Susan Lindauer, 41, worked in the press offices of four Democratic members of Congress. She also worked for Fortune magazine, U.S. News & World Report, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Fox News.

The first story is that she's a distant cousin of Card's. THEN, they talk about where she worked.

If a Spy Story is important, wouldn't the most important piece be about where she worked in Congress? I understand that the connection to Card may be important, but this is ridiculous.

Regardless of what party she worked for (I am just irked by the media bias), she is really quite on the fringe. This is really telling about what kind of person she is:

...Gary Gambill, editor of the Middle East Intelligence Bulletin, an online publication dealing with Arab politics, said Lindauer sent him a copy of her 1998 deposition in litigation related to the December 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.

In the deposition, she said Libyan officials had been wrongly accused of orchestrating the bombing and that Libya was entitled to "financial compensation for the economic harassment her people have endured because of these blatantly false accusations."
