Mexicans Chant "Osama, Osama, Osama" at USA soccer match

Posted By Blackfive

I saw this on Fox last night. This via USA Today:

The jeers from the crowd of 60,000 and the chants of "Osama, Osama, Osama" quieted Tuesday night when Mexico took control of the Olympic qualifying game against the USA at Estadio Jalisco.
The article goes on to suggest that this tactic was employed intentionally to demoralize and defeat the US Soccer team (which lost it's Olympic bid to Mexico). I understand the fervor of Soccer/Football fans around the world. I've been to Manchester United matches. I have seen the absolute insanity of soccer fans.

However, I do not excuse the behavior of Mexican fans based on the thousands of them consciously planning out a strategic stunt to help their team win. Come on, people. This is due to the Mexican government's stance on the Iraq War.

If this was such a harmless stunt, why has there been NO apology. By anyone.

This is just a taste of what is to come this summer, for our athletes, in Greece at the Olympic games.
