Interesting Things From Just One Picture

Posted By Blackfive

All right, here's some just plain weird interesting things that have happened as a result of the New Army Uniform Policy post:

1. The post was linked by an awful lot of diverse web sites...but the capper was being linked by Jehovah's Witness Online...I...just....don't know what to say.

2. I received a lot of emails from folks accusing me of doctoring the photo or posting a fake photo. Really? It doesn't appear genuine? You know, when I was a Commander, I ordered my Company to wear patches that said "Clinton Sucks!". We were quite popular...

Thanks for visiting.

BWAAAAHA!

Oh my goodness Blackfive, I don't know what the firestorm was about either..that is just strange..
I can't believe people actually thought that was real!

but reading your post, just made me laugh out loud!

:)

Clinton Sucked would have been more accurate; or were you referring to HRH HRC?

This was awhile ago so it was present tense...BTW, he still sucks.

Didn't someone once say "There's a sucker born every minute" Barney? Barnum? Something like that? Of course the damn thing is fake. Jeez, how stupid do you have to be.

This is just another confirmation, in a long line of them, of the sheer ignorance that exists about our military.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

P.S. Yes I know it was P.T. Barnum and the quote is probably not the direct quote.

Actually, the name you're groping for is Hannum:

(I can't believe I couldn't find this at Snopes)

I once saw a B-52 pilot at an airshow party with a Grateful Dead shoulder patch on his flight suit. A general showed up at the party and the Grateful Dead patch instantly morphed. The beauty of velcro.

I had an MI Chief that worked for me a few years ago. During one of my annual briefs to a Major General, I look over at him to signal the next slide, and I notice that his name tape on his Class B's says "Pondscum"...

It was a fake?!?! Dammit all, I just had all my soldiers sew those patches on the sleeves of their DCUs.

hahahaaa...

Why was there a stink about doctored photos at all? Aren't those fairly common on the *Internet?*

The only reason I made my comment was because it sounded like some people actually thought it was real.

So, in response to Black Oak's comment: Word.

Hey, Trey- There were folks that were like "Are those FAKE? That's hilarious!"

Then, there were folks like, "Dude, those are so fake! Just look at how the flag is positioned. Look at the shadows on the sleeve."

I even had someone look up a regulation about putting foreign flags on the uniform. She informed me that foreign flags were against regulations. My response, "Really? Seventeen years in uniform with a French Flag was AGAINST regulations? No?!!!"

So, I really doubt that Black Oak directed a comment towards your comments.

The Witnesses are stealing your bandwidth. They're linking your picture, so every time their page is displayed it reaches into yours and takes the picture. Probably lots of other sites doing it too. I had this happen with some of my stuff. Change the name of your pictures slightly and repost. Delete original named gaphics, or replace with letter of admonishment, which will them appear on their sites.

I know more than a few infantrymen whose dogtags read "Beer" in the slot for their religion. Not as noticeable, but still, good for a laugh from time to time. Then there's the blackhawk crew chief whose flight suit bears the name Dick Gozinya.

» Hunting Of The Snark - Week 16 from Electric Venom
It's Friday Saturday (well, it was Friday when I compiled this but I left it in draft mode by mistake) so that means it's time for another Snark Hunt wherein I present the snippiest, snarkiest posts from around the blogosphere... or at least from those... [Read More]
