I was in line at Starbuck's this morning, and this woman was bitching about the Defense Department using money to punish those that didn't support Operation Iraqi Freedom. Which three countries do you think the DOD left out of the (almost 19 billion dollars) contract bidding process? Via the New York Times:

The Pentagon has barred French, German and Russian companies from competing for $18.6 billion in contracts for the reconstruction of Iraq, saying it was acting to protect "the essential security interests of the United States."

Ha! Screw those guys! Anyway, Boots & Sabers has more on the topic.

Banagor has a great write up of the mayoral election in San Francisco. It's a good read on some possible positive changes on the Left Coast. Feste at Fool's Blog had a post about the election yesterday.
