It's about time that we faced reality here. Yasser Arafat has never done anything in the interests of the Palestinian people. Yasser Arafat has either been controlling the extremists or he has not been able to control them at all. In other words, he is either Evil incarnate or he is one of the most inept leaders the Middle East has ever seen (and that, my friends, is one helluva statement).

From President Bush:

"Palestinian authorities should have acted long ago to fight terror in all its forms," President Bush said, blaming Palestinian officials for the attack.

"The failure to create effective Palestinian security forces dedicated to fighting terror continues to cost lives," Bush said in a statement. "There must be an empowered prime minister who controls all Palestinian forces — reforms that continue to be blocked by Yasser Arafat."

While the rhetoric sounds good to me, I can't help but wonder why it took 3 American lives to get this administration and country charged up...and not the hundreds of men, women, and children murdered by Palestinians...or 426 men, women and children to be exact (data from Rand plus yesterday's incident).

Watch for the spin on this. It will be the Palestinians claiming the Israelis did the bombing to draw in the Americans. Or Yasser will try to pin it on anyone else - Iranians, Iraqis, Syrians, Somalis, you name it...

All he needs to do to find the one responsible is look in the damn mirror.
